On the Rise: Pitt Law Moves Up in U.S. News Rankings

The University of Pittsburgh School of Law continues its steady climb in its national standing, reaching number 77 in the 2026 Best Law Schools rankings released by U.S. News & World Report

The latest rankings mark a continued period of growth and momentum for Pitt Law, which has seen consistent gains in key evaluative performance indicators, including student selectivity, faculty research impact, bar passage, and post-graduate employment outcomes.

“This recognition is a testament to the collective ambition of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni,” said Dean Jerry Dickinson. “Pitt Law is on the rise. Our consistent rise in the national rankings reflects our commitment to academic excellence and our success in preparing the next generation of lawyers to lead in a rapidly evolving legal landscape.”

The ranking follows a year of significant milestones for Pitt Law, including #1 bar passage in Pennsylvania, a 50-60% surge in high-caliber applications, record-breaking fundraising, strengthening experiential learning programs, investments in public interest lawyering, and major expansions in endowed faculty positions. As Pitt Law continues its rise in the rankings, it remains focused on delivering a rigorous, forward-looking legal education grounded in experiential learning and real-world impact.
