From the Editor...

The Internet has brought faster communication and dissemination of information; that is standard stuff. In the world of commercial law (loosely anything having to do with money, from the UCC to banking to bankruptcy), that information has value and the speed of its transmission has caused all sorts of rethinking of basic transactions. Indeed, the bankruptcy court for the Southern District of New York has been a pioneer in facilitating electronic filing, and electronic access to court files. It may be a harbinger of things to come.

Take a look at these sites for ways lawyers help their clients finance the world, and the way academics and other comment on it.

Bruce A. Markell was formerly a partner at Sidley & Austin, specializing in bankruptcy and insolvency matters. For the last ten years, he has been an academic, and has written widely in the areas of commercial law and bankruptcy. He is a contributing author to Collier on Bankruptcy, a member of the American Law Institute and the National Bankruptcy Conference, and has recently become involved with the international aspect of bankruptcy andinsolvency.
