- I'd like JURIST to appear first-thing every day when I turn on my Web browser. How do I make it my home page?
You don't have to start your Internet day with Netscape or Microsoft, or even with the university or law firm Web page pre-set for you by your Systems Administrator. To make JURIST your home page, just go up to the browser main menu on the top left side of your screen...
- in Netscape 6, select Edit, then Preferences, then Navigator and enter http://jurist.law.pitt.edu (JURIST's URL) in the "Location" portion of the dialogue box (be sure you have the "Home Page" option selected in the box immediately above);
- in Netscape 4+, select Edit, then Preferences, then Navigator and enter http://jurist.law.pitt.edu (JURIST's URL) in the "Location" portion of the dialogue box (be sure you have the "Home Page" option selected in the box immediately above);
- in Netscape 3+, select Options, then General Preferences, then Appearance and enter http://jurist.law.pitt.edu (JURIST's URL) in the "Startup" portion of the dialogue box (be sure you select "Home Page Location");
- in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5+, select Tools, then General. In the section labeled "Home Page", in the box marked "Address", enter http://jurist.law.pitt.edu (JURIST's URL) and click "OK;"
- in Microsoft Internet Explorer 4+, select View, then Internet Options; in the Options box, select General; in the "Home Page" section enter http://jurist.law.pitt.edu (JURIST's URL), and then click on "OK" at the bottom of the box;
- in Microsoft Internet Explorer 3+, select View, then Options, then Navigation; in the "Customize" section of the Navigation box go to "Pages" and select "Start Page", enter http://jurist.law.pitt.edu (JURIST's URL) in the "Address" box, and then click on "Apply" at the bottom of the box;
- in America Online 6, select Settings, then select Preferences. In the new window that appears, under the Organization column click on Internet Properties (WWW). In the new window that opens click on the General tab, in the Home page section; in the box marked address, enter http://jurist.law.pitt.edu (JURIST's URL), and then click "OK;"
- in America Online 5, go to My AOL, select Preferences, then select www. In the new menu that appears, go to the Home Page section; in the box marked address, enter http://jurist.law.pitt.edu (JURIST's URL), and then click "OK;"
- in America Online 4, go to My AOL, select Preferences, then select www. In the new menu that appears, go to the Home Page section; in the box marked address, enter http://jurist.law.pitt.edu (JURIST's URL), and then click "OK;"
- One of JURIST's offsite links came up as "Not Found". What should I do?
Try the site again. If you receive the same message, send us an e-mail, and we'll double-check the link. Given the nature of the Web, sites sometimes get moved around or deleted (although that is relatively unusual with academic sites). "Not Found" messages can also be generated as a result of server problems at the host site, in which case patience may be the best policy.
