Tommy Shelby: Prison Abolition? The Uses and Abuses of Incarceration
Tommie Shelby, the Caldwell Titcomb Professor of Philosophy and of African and African American Studies at Harvard University, will give a public lecture at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2017. The lecture, “Prison Abolition? The Uses and Abuses of Incarceration,” will discuss prison abolition as a social movement ideal and will critically engage with Angela Davis’s work on the “prison industrial complex.” It will be held in the Teplitz Memorial Moot Courtroom on the ground floor of the School of Law.
